The resort of Tignes is located under the majestic La Motte glacier. It is linked to Val d'Isere and together they provide an impressive 300 km of pistes to satisfy skiers of all levels and expectations. It is made up of five sections, Le Lac, Le Lavachet and Val Claret at an altitude of 2100 m; Tignes Les Boisses and Tignes les Brévieres are located slightly lower.
Plenty of shops, restaurants sports activities and apres-ski will satisfy perhaps every visitor. Accommodation can be chosen in various categories, from modest to 5* residences and hotels. Many of the accommodations are right on the slopes, with most others within walking distance. There is a ski bus which is free also for non-skiers.
Among the sports activities available in winter, it is worth mentioning ice skating on the lake, ice diving or skiing behind a horse-drawn carriage.
