Description
Probably the best naturist resort in South Africa, situated in unspoilt countryside near Pretoria. SunEden Resort enjoys very pleasant weather for spending the European winter months. Other benefits are definitely worth mentioning, with a flight time of around 12 hours and a location in the southern hemisphere, so if it's winter here, they have summer. South Africa has a number of advantages as a holiday destination - no visa required, time difference is only an hour, flight time is acceptable. Moreover, if we have daylight saving time here, this destination is completely time-shift free. Add to that exotic nature, famous wines, and much more.
Location
Sun Eden Naturist Resort is set on 35 hectares of unspoilt countryside about 100 km from Johannesburg and less than 50 km from Pretoria. The resort is directly adjacent to the Dinokeng Big 5 Game Reserve and directly encourages safaris to see the famous "Big 5" African fauna. The "Big 5" is the name given to the five African animals that are considered the most difficult to hunt. These include the African elephant (Loxodonta africana), the lion (Panthera leo), the two-horned rhinoceros (Diceros bicornis), the African buffalo (Syncerus caffer) and the spotted leopard (Panthera pardus). Oddly enough, the amphibious hippopotamus (Hippopotamus amphibius).
Accommodation
You can stay in comfortably furnished bungalows, which usually accommodate 2, but up to 11 people. The accommodation is very cosy with a traditional thatched roof and offers a pleasant coolness in summer and warmth in winter. There is always an equipped kitchen, outdoor barbecues and each room, apartment or bungalow has its own bathroom. Our CK recommends accommodation in 'Baobab', a luxury bungalow that has recently been completely renovated. The two-storey Suzie's Loft and 'Aces' - Ace of Heart and the slightly smaller Ace of Clubs or Ace of Diamonds - are also cosy. Amenities have also been improved at Baobab, whether it's new patio seating for up to ten people, a new sound system in the lounge and much more. Three bedrooms on the first floor, each with their own en-suite facilities and access to the upper terrace, which also has sun loungers. On the ground floor there is a comfortable well-equipped kitchen connected to the living room. There is also an additional bedroom on the ground floor (with its own facilities, of course) and its own entrance. In the event of an emergency, this apartment can be connected to the rest of the house by a connecting door. There is seating on the large terrace on the ground floor and of course the barbecue cannot be missed. A weekend without a braai is not a weekend in South Africa :-) Of course there are 4 parking spaces right next to the house. Baobab is the perfect choice for a larger family or a group of friends, it can accommodate up to 11 people.
Amenities
The resort has a reception, restaurant, shop and two bars. There is a large outdoor heated swimming pool and an EdenSpa with a hot pool and two saunas. You can grill your lunch by one of the fire pits right by the pool or use one of the two barbecues at Baobab.
Dining
Own. All apartments have a fully equipped kitchen.
In addition, there is a local restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner and a bar. There is also a small shop in the resort, but you will find everything you could possibly need, from grilled meats to sunscreen.
Entertainment
At the resort you can go for walks (you can walk around the perimeter for about 3km), watch around a hundred species of birds, antelope living right inside the resort, use ping-pong, play pool and much more. There is also a newly established 9-hole golf course. It may be a long way from perfect "greens", but guests have had plenty of fun. Karaoke nights are held regularly. Once a month you can experience unique theme nights at the resort. You can sit and chat with friends around the fire. Wilderness excursions in the surrounding area are very tempting and can be explored preferably along marked trails. Also not to be missed is a trip to Dinokeng Park, where you can experience authentic Africa for yourself.
Beach
The resort is inland, so the beach is a long way away - the warm Indian Ocean coastline is about 600km away. You can use the swimming pool for swimming.
